Corvette Chief Engineer, Tadge J. Juechter has official broken the news of the upcoming 2009 Corvette ZR1 posting the fastest ever production car lap time around the Nurburgring. ZR1 now beats the 2009 Nissan GT-R's impressive record of 7:29 with its faster laptime of 7:26.4, as verified by the onboard datalogging and two hand-held stopwatches.
Here's what Juechter wrote on GMNext blog: "This morning (Friday June 27), General Motors development engineer Jim Mero drove the Corvette ZR1 around the Nürburgring in a time of 7:26.4. Jim commented after the lap that conditions were good except for a strong headwind down the main straight and that the lap was solid, but he felt there were a few places he could have gone faster." Now this indicate towards GM's intention of further improving the lap time and thus make things more difficult for upcoming 2011 Honda/Acura NSX and Toyota LF-A.
Giving out further details, Juechter clarified that the ZR1 that lapped the Ring was instock trim with no change in engine calibrations and it wore the production cars Michelin Pilot Sport 2’s tires. The chassis alignment and vehicle height were set to factory specs and the fuel used was the standard pump (not racing) gas. The only additional devices used were the communications and safety equipment.
To put an end to all possible speculation, Juechter wrote: "The vehicle was exactly like the cars that will be built in Bowling Green, Kentucky and sold around the world later this summer."
An in-car official video will be posted in the week of July 7 when the ZR1 engineering team returns from Germany. But rather waiting till then you can checkout BridgeToGantry's short spy video below that gives you glimpses of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 lapping the Ring. Hope you won't miss the sweet humming of ZR1's supercharged V8.

Spy Video: 2010-2011 Honda/Acura NSX Lapping The Ring.
The buzz about the upcoming $2500 Nano hatchback had kind of died down after its debut at the Delhi and Geneva Auto Show. The focus had shifted to the Indian carmaker Tata Motors takeover of Jaguar and Land Rover. But now the worlds cheapest car, Tata Nano is back in news with its spy video being uploaded on Youtube.
This is the first time that Nano has been caught on video. Till now nobody had seen any spy photo or video of this cute little hatch due to the high level of secrecy that Tata had maintained about its pet project. The video below shows the base model (black bumper) of Nano being tested on the old Bombay Pune Highway in India without any camo whatsoever.
Tata Nano coined as “The People’s Car” in India due to its rock bottom prices has a RWD all-aluminum, two-cylinder 623 cc petrol engine making 33 hp and is efficient enough to attain a fuel economy of about 55 mpg. The car is expected to hit the Indian market later this year and its delux model might have a $10 airbag (Read).
Tata is also said to be working on the world’s first compressed air car called Tata OneCat which Tata expects to be more efficient than any present hybrid car. We'll be on lookout for more about about this concept but till then checkout the Nano in action below.
Today we bring you the spy video of the Lotus Eagle protoype being tested at the Nurburgring, Germany. New Eagle will officially make its public debut later this years at 2008 London Motor Show. Sketchy details that can be seen in this heavily camouflaged Eagle video are its low front end, round brake lights and tail lamps that look very similar to ones doing service on the Elise/Exige.
The new mid-engined 2+2 Lotus Eagle sports car is expected to be priced at about £45,000 when it goes on sale in UK in spring of 2009 as a 2010 model. The new car fits in between the entry-level Elise sports cars and the upcoming Esprit. Inorder to decrease body mass and improve handling, there will be extensive use of aluminum in the body structure plus it will get a carbon fiber roof.
Just incase if you don't know Eagle is only a codename for this project and the production car will be christened another name.
VIDEO: Chevy Volt model undergoing wind-tunnel testing at the GM Tech Center. Filmed and narrated Jeff Gilbert, a radio reporter for Detroit's WWJ (950 on your AM dial), it a offers a rare glimpse behind the curtain into the electric lab and wind tunnel at the GM Technical Center. In addition to action shots of aerodynamics testing, we see the battery packs and a Chevy Malibu being transformed into a Volt powertrain mule.....Above all else, it's the aerodynamic testing that gets our attention. It featured a one-third-size Volt with the actual final production styling (pictured above). source autobloggreen

Spy Video Of 2010 BMW Z4 Testing in the Arctic Circle About the Video: We've already seen the 2010 BMW Z4 on the streets of Munich and on the Nürburgring, but now we've managed to snag some footage of the upcoming roadster during final cold-weather testing in the Arctic Circle. From low-speed testing on the city streets to higher-speed action on a frozen lake, the engineers at BMW are throwing everything they have at the next-generation 2010 BMW Z4. Like previous prototypes of the 2010 BMW Z4 that we've seen, these cold-weather test mules appear to have a traditional soft top. Don't believe it, as we suspect it's nothing but clever camouflage designed to hide the fact that the 2010 BMW Z4 is switching to a folding hardtop. Source youtube
