2009 Nissan GT-R To Hit US Showrooms This July, 70% Already Booked

From July 7th, Nissan will begin the delivery of new 2009 GT-R's first batch to the 671 GT-R Certified Nissan dealers in USA. More than 1,700 of the exotic 480-horsepower GT-R supercars, or approximately 70 percent of the first year allocation for the United States market, have already been spoken for since the order books opened in last January.

The base model of the fifth-generation GT-R comes with a price tag of $69,850 while the GT-R Premium model goes for $71,900 plus the $1,000 for destination and handling costs. Car comes equipped with a standard 480-horsepower, twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine and advanced 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

All new 2009 Nissan GT-R has been holding the record for the fastest lap time of 7 minutes 29 seconds achieved by a production-spec vehicle at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife. But two days back this lap-record was broken by the GM's upcoming 2009 Corvette ZR1. Its has managed to set a faster laptime of 7:26.4. But please don't get us wrong as we are not trying to compare the two cars, nor can they be compared. Why?, because Corvette ZR1 is a 640Hp supercar that costs $103,300 which is almost twice the cost of GT-R and comes with 160 more horses. They are both supercars but in a different league. And we suppose that a sportscar’s Nurburgring lap-time shouldn't be a factor in your car buying decision if you won't be frequently hitting the Ring.

"After years of speculation and anticipation, the wait for a U.S.-spec Nissan GT-R is over," said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "GT-R is one supercar that more than lives up to its promise, with independent testing by the leading auto enthusiasts magazines and online sites producing performance results that only a handful of production cars have ever attained – much less at a $70,000 MSRP."

Mr Castignetti you just hit the bulls-eye.

Nissan GT-R With Arios Carbon Fibre Body Kit

Japanese Tuner Arios has come out with a new carbon-fibre body kit for 2009 model Nissan GTR R35. Body kit comprise of a front lip spoiler, nose and engine covers, sidestep side skits and NACA duct covers. The change in looks of GT-R wearing new clothes isn’t so obvious on a black car but on white cars the change is dramatic.

Arios also removed the R35’s front GT-R emblem and replaced it with an oldschool emblem from a Skyline GT-R KPCG10 a somewhat popular modification on legacy GT-Rs. According to Arios, it will come out with more carbon-fibre body parts for Nissan GT-R including a rear spoiler in the near future.

Whats New in 09 Model Nissan GTR?
The new incarnation of the GT-R would, for the first time, be available around the world. Also this was the first time in its history that the Nissan GT-R was not based on the Skyline sedan or coupe. Video: 2009 Nissan GT-R At Jay Leno's Garage

Nissan GT-R Crash During JGTC Series: Video

The GT500 race car taking part in the Japanese touring car series (JGTC) has one of the most extreme aerodynamic and powertrain packages. The video below was taken at last weekend’s Okayama round of the Super GT championship, shows two different cars - the YellowHat YMS Tomica GT-R and the Zent Cerumo Lexus SC430.

The new R35 GT-R had dominated the first two rounds of the JGTC. But incase you don't know the the car used for competition is quite different to the production model. For example the race car gets the sophisticated ATTESA-ETS AWD system which the standard road car knows nothing about.

Japan Spec Nissan GT-R (R35) ECU Cracked

The guys at Cobbtuning.com have declared that they have managed to crack the new Nissan GT-R ECU. Till now Nissan has been claiming that ECU on 2009 GTR is encrypted and can't be cracked. Let the fun begin. More datails follow below.

The ‘uncrackable’ GT-R (R35) ECU
Our own GT-R is a JDM version with the fun-sapping 180 kph (112mph) speed limiter. Thankfully, it can now be removed. We’ll continue to do more in-house testing and hopefully get some beta AccessPORTs out to the other two JDM GT-Rs in the US inflicted with the same speed limiter woes. By the time North American spec cars arrive, we should be well prepared and practiced in the art of tuning the GT-R’s ECU.
