While for rest of the world it will be a Subaru model. The coupe will be based on a revised version of the Subaru Impreza's platform and will get its boxer engine and transmission.

Although the Subaru and Toyota versions of this coupĂ© will look different from one another around the front and rear, both will be powered by Subaru’s naturally aspirated 2.0-liter boxer engine making about 220 horsepower at 6,500 rpm.

As reported earlier, Toyota was contemplating in-wheel front motors to complete the 4WD package—as opposed to using Subaru’s symmetrical AWD system. The six speed manual transmission is confirmed and on launch new sporty will compete against the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, and the Mazda MX5.
