BMW i8 - What Color You Want?

BMW i8 Colour Wrap
BMW i8 Color Wrap
The BMW i8 is the ultimate modern eco-friendly hybrid sports car. It's officially available in a decent range of colors like silver, white, grey etc. If you find this color choice very limited, don't worry, just buy any shade of i8 and then finalize the color you want!! Does this sound silly?? Not really. For a few thousand bucks you can get your i8 wrapped in almost any color you can possibly think of. Its that easy, ... i mean choosing the color not the wrapping part.

A vinyl wrap is an alternative for those looking to change the exterior look of a vehicle without having to repaint. It involves covering an entire vehicle in a pattern or a solid shade vinyl which comes in an endless variety of colors . Wrapping a car like BMW i8 is pretty complex process since its futuristic styling present some very unique aerodynamic shapes and features. A good quality vinyl wrap if installed properly can last for about 5 – 7 years easily. And even when you get bored of it, the wrap can be removed revealing the original unaffected paint finish underneath.

Accident: 100 Car Pile Up Near Incheon Airport

Car Accident
Cars Turned To Junk
In one of the worst car accidents in recent history, about 100 vehicles collided with each other on a bridge near Incheon International Airport in South Korea. The crash occurred in the morning in a Seoul-bound lane and was likely aggravated by thick fog and icy road conditions. Two people have been confirmed dead.

Death toll could have been much higher had such a large scale car pile happened in India since car manufacturers here prefer to load only their top end models with basic safety features. Below are some of the photos capturing the magnitude of damage. Viewer discretion is advised for car lovers as beautiful machines have been turned into heaps of junk metal within a matter of few seconds.

ABS Can Save Lives Of Two Wheel Drivers

ABS brakes can save life of motorist
Risky Life Of Motorist
The two-wheelers forms 70% of our country’s vehicular population and at the same time accounts for major number of accidents and deaths. According to government data, more than 39,353 people were killed on Indian roads in 2013 while riding two-wheelers. This is a scary figure considering that most of these accidents could have been prevented if two-wheeler drivers were able to maintain control of their vehicle and stop it on time.

The two videos below demonstrates what happens in an accident situation and how a vehicle becomes unstable on hard braking. Second situation shows how the vehicle can be brought to immediate halt safely if only it came with ABS brakes. So we need not just good helmets but also better brakes for our two wheelers. Please spread the awareness and share it with others.

Comparison: 2015 VW Jetta Facelift - New vs Old

2015 Volkswagen Facelift: Comparison New vs Old
New vs Old VW Jetta
The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta facelift comes with a handful of really subtle styling changes. It feels fresh but not really an all-new sedan. With the growing competition in the D segment, Volkswagen definately needed to push its four year old more aggressively. Now to understand what all has actually changed and improved in the new VW, we pit it against the outgoing car. It is a photo comparison between the old vs new Jetta based on the picture gallery below.

Front Comparison VW Jetta Facelift - New vs Old
For the exterior, the refreshed Jetta receives a new three-slat radiator grille which lends a touch of boldness to the front fascia just like its big brother VW Passat. The front bumper has also been redesigned to accommodate wider looking air-intakes and new rectangular fog lights.

Side Comparison VW Jetta Facelift - New vs Old
The bonnet and the side fenders are carried forward to the new car untouched. Moreover there are no noticeable changes to 2015 Jetta's side profile except for the new design alloy wheels.

Rear Comparison VW Jetta Facelift - New vs Old
At rear-end of the face-lifted Jetta the most noticeable upgrade is definately the new Audi-like LED tail-lamps. Other changes include a new redesigned boot lid which gives the backend of the car a more cleaner look. Also the rear bumper gets subtle revisions and new reflectors.

Interior Comparison VW Jetta Facelift - New vs Old
Comparing the interior of 2015 Jetta against the outgoing car, we find that the new cabin now comes with a flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel just like the one used on VW Polo & Vento and the center console gets updated touchscreen infotainment system with a new piano black surrounds. There aren't any significant changes made to trim and upholstery but expect a possible option between all black and dual-tone interiors.

Front Comparison VW Jetta Facelift - New vs Old
Overall the new facelifted 2015 VW Jetta is a familiar sight as the changes made to it seems to be more of an attempt to bring it in line with the VW family look. They are subtle and mainly cosmetic but surely helps to give the new car a fresh look and appeal.

BMW Security Flaw Allowed Remote Unlocking

BMW Hacking Flaw
BMW ConnectedDrive Unsecure
A German motoring organisation ADAC has found certain security flaws in BMW's ConnectedDrive technology that can allow unauthorised users to remotely unlock the vehicles. This is a scary situation as the intruder does not need to break window panes to get access to the car and can simply walk in and drive away. The issue affected about 2.2 million Rolls Royce, Mini and BMW models that come equipped with ConnectedDrive – a technology that allows car owners to access internet, navigation and other services via a SIM card installed directly into vehicles.

BMW acted swiftly when informed by ADAC about this vulnerability and has been able to successfully plug the weakness in their system. The patch was applied automatically starting 31st January, encrypting the car’s data with HTTPS – a common internet security measure used in everything from banks to e-commerce platforms. Vehicle software can be updated in two ways. First is the automatic method in which when the vehicle connects to the BMW Group server the ConnectedDrive software will be updated. For some reason if the car had been offline or out of battery then the user need to call up the service configuration manually. If you are worried that your vehicle may not have received the update then you should choose “Update Services” from your car’s menu.
